Need A Break From The Heat? Spotlight Theaters Has You Covered

After the storm, many of us are still trying to get back on our feet, especially with the power out and the Florida heat bearing down. If you’re searching for a place to cool off and unwind, Spotlight Theaters is a welcoming escape. Picture this: the hum of air conditioning, the smell of fresh popcorn, and the simple pleasure of sitting in a comfy seat with a cold drink in hand. They’ve got hot food, snacks, and, of course, a lineup of movies to take your mind off the stress for a while. Just remember, they’re only accepting cash for now, so come prepared. In times like these, even a few hours in the cool, dark theater can feel like a real reprieve. Take care of yourself, you deserve a break.

Food Trucks at Bowersox

If you’re looking for a tasty adventure and a change of scenery, head over to the Bowersox Air parking lot where a variety of food trucks gather to serve up some of the best bites in town. Need Water, Food or Tarps?

The process was really simple at the Venice Community Center. I went through on Wednesday at 7:30 am. There was no line, they were all friendly and loaded 2 boxes of water, a box of canned goods, a tarp and some rope into my car and sent me on my way. The whole process took less than 2 minutes. Don’t hesitate if you need it!

  • Englewood: Englewood Sports Complex, 1300 River Road; water, food and tarps available from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily while supplies last.
  • North Port: San Pedro Catholic Church, 14380 Tamiami Trail; water, food and tarps available from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily while supplies last.
  • Venice: Venice Community Center, 326 Nokomis Ave.; water, food and tarps available from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily while supplies last.

These businesses have opened their doors to provide comfort and nourishment, and they’re a vital part of our community’s recovery. So if you’re able, stop by one of these spots for a meal, or grab takeout for the family. Every little bit helps.
