Tips are NOT Required!

At first glance, a 20% service fee may seem off-putting to many diners who are used to the traditional tipping model. However, this local restaurant’s unique approach is actually a win-win situation for both servers and patrons. Let’s dive into the benefits of this innovative policy that ensures fair wages and great service.

  1. Stability for servers: By charging a 20% service fee, the restaurant ensures that its servers receive a stable, regular wage. This eliminates the financial uncertainty that comes with relying on tips and helps servers to better manage their personal finances. In return, servers can focus on providing top-notch service to their guests, knowing their income is secured.
  2. Fairness and transparency: The service fee creates a more transparent and fair system for both diners and servers. Customers are aware of the total cost of their meal upfront, with no hidden charges or surprises. It also ensures that servers are compensated fairly for their hard work, regardless of the number of tables or the generosity of patrons.
  3. Improved team dynamics: With this policy, servers no longer need to compete with each other for tables and tips, fostering a more collaborative work environment. This results in better communication and teamwork, which ultimately translates to improved service for diners.
  4. Enhanced customer experience: When servers are not reliant on tips, they can focus on providing the best possible dining experience for their guests, without the pressure to upsell or over-attend to certain tables. This ensures a more relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere for diners.
  5. Encouraging a living wage: By implementing a service fee, the restaurant supports the movement towards providing a living wage for its employees. This fosters a positive work culture and demonstrates a commitment to ethical and responsible business practices.

While the 20% service fee at our local restaurant may seem unconventional, it’s important to recognize the numerous benefits it brings to both servers and diners. By supporting this establishment, we’re not only enjoying a fantastic dining experience, but we’re also contributing to a more equitable and sustainable restaurant industry. Cheers to good food, great service, and fair wages!

Afternoon Tea At Le Petit Jardin Cafe

We were so thrilled to be invited for afternoon tea! We loved the peach green tea! The 3 tier option had wonderful options. A cheese sandwich, chicken salad sandwich, cucumber sandwich, quiche, strawberry scone with jam and clotted cream, macarons, chocolate-covered strawberries and a little chocolate cake with ganache. Each bit was better than the last. The service was super friendly and they even had a cute princess crown for my daughter!

Our Brunch Date Experience

biscuits and gravy at le petit jardin

It was a Friday morning and we had a busy day of errands to run that took us out to East Venice Ave. and finally got over to Le Petit Jardin Cafe.

The coffee was perfect for me but Jason couldn’t resist grabbing a refreshing peach bellini – he said it was sweet and delicious! For breakfast, I had the Le Crepe Delacroix. It is ham, eggs and melted swiss cheese inside a perfectly made crepe drizzled in a champagne mustard sauce that quite honestly was the most delicious part of the whole plate.

On their special for the day was a delicious plate of biscuits and sausage gravy, which Jason jumped for, ordering it as a platter with eggs and sausage.

Final Thoughts

The first time we went to Le Petit Jardin Cafe for brunch, it was such a wonderful experience that they have been on our recommendation list ever since. Having the opportunity to attend their afternoon tea simply solidified our belief that this restaurant is top-notch. Their tasty breakfasts and amazing sandwiches are also highly recommended by us if you’re in the area!
