Vegan Apple Beignets

Simple to make and even better to eat, Vegan Apple Beignets are the perfect fall treat!
Servings 12 -15 beignets

Ingredients

  • 3 large sweet apples I used Gala apples
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 cup carbonated water
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • Frying oil I used canola oil, but you can also use vegetable or sunflower oil

Instructions

  • 1. Start with making the batter by mixing the flour, baking powder, salt, and carbonated water. and mixing until it reaches a thicker consistency. If you find the batter is too runny, you can add a little flour. Stir completely until it is smooth.
  • 2. Then, peel and core the apples, slice as thick or thin as you prefer. I would recommend about a half inch thick.
  • 3. Add your oil to a deep pot with a thermometer and heat until it reaches a temperature of 350 degrees.
  • 4. Dip each of the apple slices through the batter and let the excess fall off the apple slice.
  • 5. Slowly lower the battered apples into the oil, frying for 3-5 minutes until they are golden brown.
  • 6. As they come out of the oil, dip each one in a mixture of cinnamon sugar and place on a drying rack.
  • 7. Allow the beignets to cool slightly and serve warm for a delicious treat!
